Heading to Kelefesia

We are going to move today to the southernmost island of the Ha’apai group called Kelefesia. It’s a pretty looking island with cliffs about 40 miles away from our current position. We plan to spend two or more days there exploring while watching the weather along the route to New Zealand.

Our current plans are to head southwest for the Tongan Minerva reefs – which are a little over 350 miles from Kelefesia. That will be a two day passage. From there we will only be 800 or so miles from northern New Zealand. The current forecast says there will a new weather system moving through the area north of New Zealand late next week. We hope to find a weather window from Minverva after that system.
