A White Christmas with Family

Karen and I had a fantastic Christmas – a white one even! For the first time in decades, there was a white Christmas across most of North Carolina. We had about 6 inches fall on Christmas afternoon. It was wonderful, especially with our worldly travels, to be able to come home and spend time with family. It was one of the best Christmases ever!

In the last week we got to meet with over two dozen of our siblings, sibling-in-laws, Mom, Step Dad, Dad, uncle, aunt, nephews, nieces, cousins, etc. Our time was fully occupied with catching up, telling stories of our sailing adventures, and eating and drinking.

There were 28 who came to my Mom’s for a holiday dinner on Sunday where we had snowball fights, snowman building/destroying, game playing, and lots and LOTS of eating. A funny moment was when we looked around the room and there were over a dozen smart phones, iPads, and laptops all in use at once! Most of them new. The age of small Internet devices is definitely in full force!

Our daughters have come with us to Houston, Texas where we are visiting some of Karen’s family. We’ll be here until mid-January when we return to New Zealand and finally get back to Tahina.
