Stop Near Brisbane

We made it down to the Brisbane area last week after our nice stay in Mooloolaba. We were looking forward to the chance to visit once again with our friends on s/v Stray Kitty who were staying at a marina in Manly (just south of Brisbane). We had also hoped to visit with the crew of m/v Oso Blanco, but they had left their boat to do some sightseeing. We arrived after a nice sail on Monday afternoon.

While there, we spent a lot of time with the family of Stray Kitty. The kids came over to play Wii, we had dinners together and we did some sightseeing. We walked to the nearby town of Wynnum one day and had breakfast in the town. And, we took the train into Brisbane and enjoyed visiting Streets Beach and the Gallery of Modern Arts.

On Thursday, we invited Stray Kitty to Tahina to share our Thanksgiving dinner. We really missed having the holiday with our family, but it was great sharing it with some of our closest friends on the water.

Here are some photos from our visit near Brisbane:

We had to say goodbye to them once again though. We are continuing south towards Sydney now. Stray Kitty are attempting to sell their boat now. They are yet another boat who have decided not to attempt to head home via the Mediterranean because of the situation in the Red Sea. We hope to still see them here in Australia in the coming months though.

Our next destination is Southport – home to Sea World.

Take it easy coming through the Southport Harbour Entrance. Can be tricky. Broad water very shallow too. You shouldn’t have any problems with depth though.
