Slow Passage South

We had a good passage from Southport making 100 nautical miles south to Yamba Bay on Sunday. We had more sailable conditions than forecasted and actually sailed about 50% of the trip (we had expected almost no sailing). Yamba Bay is a little nook hidden in an estuary with pretty little island sanctuaries north of us. There are lots of birds and pretty vegetation nearby. Yamba is a popular holiday area with several holiday park campgrounds along the shore.

Right now, the weather is yucky here though. We’ve had rain and blustery conditions – which is why we stopped here (so we avoided those conditions at sea). There is a change in the weather forecasted on Wednesday which we hope to use to ride further south. Getting to Sydney has been a real chore!
