Waiting for a Weather Window

Current weather

We are in Southport, Australia waiting for a weather window so we can continue south. The forecasts do not look good at all. Yesterday the front we had been expecting came through and we had rain and strong southerly winds begin. The rain has blown through, and now we have sunny skies, but the south wind is still blowing 20-25 kts and gusts higher.

The long-term forecast is not too promising. With the exception of a brief period of lighter south winds this weekend, we have 15kts average south winds for the entire next 7 days! If we can get 100 or so miles further south, our prospects are a bit better. We may have to go out and beat our way south this weekend into waves and wind. We want to be in Sydney by mid-December for sure.
