We had a hectic few days, but we managed to leave as planned early today. We are now motoring past Singapore. We have to go all the way past Singapore since we are not cleared to anchor in Singapore with our Malaysia clearance. It’s about 50 miles, and we hope to be around by late afternoon.
Mysteriously, our speed this morning was not as fast as when we arrived at Puteri. Normally I would just surmise we picked up growth. But, we had very clean bottoms when we arrived having just put on a fresh coat of anti-fouling. And the new paint is supposed to be very effective. We had no paint on our props though, and since we are motoring, it may be that there is growth already on the props and it is slowing us down by 1 to 1.5 knots. Karen may have to jump in the water and clean them, since I’m not cleared to swim for another week.
We got word from our friends, and former Tahina crew, Jason and Lara, that they will be able to join us for a few days while we’re visiting some of the islands in a little over a week from now. They have been living in New Zealand since they left Tahina, but are now heading back to the US. On the way, they decided to spend some time traveling around SE Asia. So, we invited them to visit, and they accepted! We’re excited to show them some of our improvements, and to get a chance to see them a bit before they go back.
